Dave Malone of the New Orleans Radiators to play rare dates in Los Angeles and San Diego

Saturday, August 1st at Café Fais Do at 8 p.m. in Los Angeles, and Sunday, August 2nd at Winston’s at 5:00 p.m. in Ocean Beach.

In the grand pantheon of New Orleans music royalty, Dave Malone looms large. His bona fides are formidable. The man was raised in a swampy sugar cane town on the banks of the Mississippi. He spent 34 years as vocalist and guitarist for the legendary Radiators, who began life backing up godhead bluesman Earl (Big Chief) King. Malone’s been featured on over a dozen albums and logged a lifetime of nights on stages around the world keeping it extremely real.

Platinum album-winning guitarist/producer Doug Grean of the Terpsichords has worked with artists as diverse as Sheryl Crow, Glen Campbell, Tim McGraw, Scott Weiland and Slash, and he’s no stranger to the sounds of the Crescent City. The New York native attended Tulane University, then spent the next decade playing clubs throughout New Orleans, schooling himself in a blues/funk/soul bouillabaisse that sets the standard for his current Los Angeles-based old school funk band the Terpsichords, a wildly popular act that brings authentic New Orleans cred to the venues of Southern California. Your move, Popeyes.

So. Dave Malone and Grean’s Terpsichords…a match made in heaven? Damned right, but—lucky for most of us—you don’t have to go to heaven to grace your ears with this perfect pairing of swamp boogie master and incendiary funk band, a combination seemingly as natural as red beans and rice.

All you need to do is make it to California, and you may bear witness to this holy union on Saturday, August 1st at Café Fais Do at 8 p.m. in Los Angeles, and Sunday, August 2nd at Winston’s at 5:00 p.m. in Ocean Beach.
